CRISIL webinar on the cement sector: Cementing Covid-19 cracks

Summary

Cement demand correlates strongly to economic growth. So if growth in India's gross domestic product is headed for a multi-decade low this fiscal, can the demand outlook for cement be any better?

Interestingly, cement demand recovered swiftly in May and June after having nosedived in April. Yet, with the two key end-user segments - housing and civil infrastructure - also the worst-affected by the pandemic, will demand sustain?

These are just some of the questions stakeholders in the sector are grappling with. Then there are posers on the outlook for realisations, besides cost and credit profiles of cement manufacturers.

In the milieu, CRISIL is organising a webinar where our experts will discuss:

  • Demand outlook for fiscals 2021 and 2022 - regional and segmental growth trend
  • Outlook on profitability - trend in realisations, input costs and operating leverage
  • Credit outlook - impact of lower demand and profitability on credit profiles of players
  • Investment and consolidation scenario following the pandemic

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with industry experts and a Q&A session.
