Assistance in farm-in opportunity in an upstream block in India
The largest gas marketing and transporting company in India is our client. The Client intended to acquire a certain participating interest in the Block. Towards this, we assisted the client in analyzing all the relevant documentation, carrying out the techno-commercial evaluation of the block, detailed financial, technical and tax due diligence and to determine the potential value of the block.

CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory's client, Statoil, is one of the world's largest oil and gas majors. The client was keen to enter into the Indian sector and wanted to evaluate and assess the opportunities available in the country. CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory assisted the client in identification and valuation any mid or downstream possibilities that could be viable for Statoil if they were to enter the Indian market with equity piped gas. Assistance to Regulator for natural gas pipeline tariff determination
CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory's Client was the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the regulator of the downstream sector. As per the regulations notified by the Regulator any entity having an existing natural gas transmission pipeline is required to submit various data (in the prescribed format) that would enable the PNGRB to evaluate the tariff that the entity can charge from end consumers. CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory assisted PNGRB in the verification of the accuracy and reliability of the data submitted by the entities for identified pipelines
Pre-Feasibility of Small Scale LNG Project
CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory's client is one of the major gas marketers and transmission companies in the country. The client intended to understand the feasibility of setting up a small LNG project to monetise the stranded assets available in the Western region of the country. LNG produced from the unit will be supplied to designated cities/industries which are away from the trunk/spur pipeline networks of Natural gas. It is intended to promote the use of LNG, a clean and green fuel as substitute for conventional fuels for industrial and commercial purposes for cities away from NG pipe lines but covered by the distance criteria as defined. Further, the utilization of the product is to be explored considering the associated environmental impact thereof on various existing potential consumers among the Small Scale industries and commercial sectors which are using other conventional fuel.
Bidding Assistance - City Gas Distribution Projects
CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory's client is one of the major gas marketers and transmission companies in the country. The client wanted CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory's assistance to develop and finalise a successful bidding strategy to bid for a CGD network which has been open to private investors for the first time in India. CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory assisted the client in preparation of various scenarios for City Gas Distribution, assessment of various scenarios as per PNGRB's bidding evaluation criteria, preparation of bid strategy and bid document submission to regulator.
Regulatory impact on current business
CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory's client is one of the oldest City Gas Distribution companies in India. The PNGRB, downstream sector regulator, was inviting views from various stakeholders on the various regulations proposed to be notified by the Board. CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory assisted the client in undertaking an analysis of the current regulations and also how they would impact the business of the client. A study of the existing regulations in various other developed and developing countries were undertaken. CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory also provided advice to the client on identification of the businesses that would require restructuring and the key issues that the client would need to look into. Feasibility Study - City Gas Distribution in Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Saudi Arabia appointed CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory to conduct a comprehensive Feasibility Study of introducing the use of gas to residential, commercial and additional light industrial customers in the city of Riyadh for the first time. The study included a Market assessment, technical assessment and financial feasibility analysis along with a benchmarking of the proposed network with the city gas network in United Arab Emirates.
Bidding Assistance - Natural Gas Pipeline
