CRISIL Ratings webinar on the organized retail sector: The reach ramp-up imperative

Summary

India's organized retail sector will see normalisation of revenue growth this fiscal as pent-up demand seen after the Covid-19 pandemic abates. The e-retail channel will moderate, too, but will outperform brick-and-mortar (B&M) as shoppers balance utilization of both. Either way, segments such as apparels and consumer durables will normalise after the steep upsurge in the past two fiscals.

Overall, growth will be driven by volume this fiscal with inflation likely on moderation course. Operating profitability will benefit from easing commodity prices. That said, retailers are expected to continue capital expenditure to increase geographical reach.

In this backdrop, will retailers spend more on marketing and offer more discounts to spur demand? How will continuing capex amid moderating growth affect credit profiles?

For answer and more, CRISIL Ratings is hosting a webinar on the organized retail sector titled, 'The reach ramp-up imperative', where our experts will share views on:

  • Revenue outlook for B&M and e-retail channels
  • Profitability expectations and drivers
  • Store expansions and funding mix, and credit outlook on retailers

This will be followed by a panel discussion with industry leaders and a Q&A session.
