CRISIL Ratings Annual Infrastructure Summit: Revving roads and renewables

CRISIL Ratings Annual Infrastructure Summit: Revving roads and renewables

Summary

Infrastructure has been receiving special attention from the government because of its multiplier effect on economic activity and ability to improve both, standard of living and competitiveness.

Last fiscal, spending on infrastructure surged 19% to an estimated Rs 13 lakh crore. Within this, renewable power and roads saw particular focus, garnering over 40% of the investment share.

These sectors will continue to be in the spotlight and provide significant traction to economic activity. In renewable energy, a strong investment pipeline is expected to boost capacity past 205 GW in the next five fiscals. In roads, continued healthy pace of project awarding should lead to ~12,000 km of national highway being constructed annually over the same period.

But this growth story has its share of challenges, too. The key questions raised are whether the current pace of growth will sustain, will cost pressures cull returns, is bidding aggression back, and can operating performance endure. That makes it imperative to gauge the opportunities and risks.

Against this backdrop, CRISIL Ratings is holding its annual flagship CRISIL Ratings Infrastructure Summit, titled ‘Revving roads and renewables'.

The event offers a platform for business leaders, issuers, investors, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss and exchange perspectives on issues relevant to the growth and development of the sector.

The presentations and panel discussions during the event will cover:

  • Growth prospects and drivers
  • Evolving business models
  • Progress on monetisation and future prospects
  • Outlook on cost parameters and impact on returns
  • Bidding aggression and its impact on profitability
  • View on the value chain development
  • Credit outlook

CRISIL Ratings will also present its perspectives on the Expected Loss rating for infrastructure projects, and how it can help market participants make informed choices.
