The Indian economy has entered 2021 with fresh optimism after having survived a year of Covid-19. With significant recovery an imperative, the government's focus is on building infrastructure and creating jobs. For this, it needs Rs 111 lakh crore over the next five fiscals as per the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) report.
The Government contribution, (both central and state) was expected to be 42 - 46%. With Covid led shutdown and the impending fiscal strain, the government cannot gather such gigantic amount of capital all alone. While the current budget provides a fiscal leeway, the private sector needs to step in, and the corporate bond market will have to play a very significant role. The bond market has the potential to contribute much more than the envisaged 6-8% of the NIP funding.
In this backdrop, CRISIL invites you to its 6th Bond Market Seminar titled, Bonds that build a nation, where we will try to decode the role the corporate bond market can play in funding the NIP and facilitating economic recovery. This year, we have the privilege of having Shri Ajay Tyagi, Chairman, SEBI as the Guest of Honour at the seminar. Another key highlight of the event would be a fireside chat with Mr. K V Kamath.
We will highlight the innovations that can bolster the bond market's potential to meet the country's investment needs.
The seminar will also throw light on index-linked products and their role in channeling funds into the bond market as well the regulatory push required to make this market more transparent.
The event will be held virtually. We look forward to your presence at the event.
