CRISIL Ratings Seminar: NBFCs: Gearing Up for Growth
Key Speakers & Panellists:
Summary
Non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) have emerged stronger after tackling multiple challenges over the past four fiscals. The funding ordeal witnessed four years ago by a number of NBFCs impacted the liability and liquidity side while the Covid-19 disruptions over last two years led to asset quality concerns and profitability impact.
However, most NBFCs have overcome these challenges. The asset quality concerns are largely behind us and balance sheets are stronger supported by higher capitalisation and provisioning buffers. NBFCs’ nimbleness has allowed them to quickly embrace digitalisation and tweak their business models and focus segments. NBFCs are now truly gearing up for growth.
To be sure, the upturn in the interest rate cycle has resulted in a rise in borrowing costs. But NBFCs do have the ability to pass on the costs in a number of their business segments.
In this context, the 7th edition of CRISIL Ratings’ annual flagship ‘NBFC seminar’ is pertinently titled 'NBFCs: Gearing Up for Growth’. The event offers a platform for business leaders, issuers, investors, policymakers, and other market participants to discuss, deliberate and exchange perspectives on issues relevant to the growth and development of India's NBFC sector.
