Aluminium prices, which had witnessed a strong recovery last fiscal, soared to record highs in October. Despite having cooled a bit from then, current spot prices are up more than 60% compared with pre-pandemic levels.
They have been driven up by a combination of strong demand recovery and curtailed supplies from China, which is transitioning to greener energy sources by reducing dependence on coal.
While the trend has helped domestic aluminium producers smelt strong profits in the first half of this fiscal, higher input costs and coal shortage risks cloud their near-term outlook.
They are also spending to increase capacity and efficiency, even as they begin to redraw strategic roadmaps by centrally factoring in the environmental aspect of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG), in line with global trends.
Against this backdrop, CRISIL Ratings invites you to its webinar titled Aluminium – 'On the green road' on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, 3 pm onwards, providing business leaders, issuers, investors and other market participants a platform to deliberate on the sector outlook.
The event will have presentations by CRISIL's experts covering aspects such as:
