After a subdued fare in pandemic-hit fiscal 2021, organised dairy players saw sales soar in fiscal 2022 on the twin tailwinds of strong recovery in demand and retail price hikes across products.
The uptrend is expected to continue in fiscal 2023, benefiting from strong demand for milk and value-added products (VAP) and higher prices. Indeed, VAP categories such as flavoured milk, buttermilk, lassi, and ice cream are expected to log a strong bounce-back this summer, after two consecutive peak season sales were impacted.
On the flipside, however, milk procurement and other costs are on the rise. How will this impact the profitability of dairy players? How will they manage working capital cycle, especially inventories? How is overall credit quality expected to fare?
For answers, CRISIL Ratings is organising a webinar on the dairy sector on Thursday, April 21, 2022, where our team will also make a presentation covering:
Demand-supply dynamics and growth prospects for organised dairy players
Profitability trends
Capital spending and working capital management
Overall credit outlook
The presentation will be followed by a discussion with eminent panellists from the dairy sector, and a question-and-answer session with the audience.
