India's consumer durables sector was in a tough terrain over the past two fiscals as pandemic-led disruptions led to loss of peak-season demand and subdued consumer sentiment.
But green shoots of recovery are visible now and demand for consumer durables is expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels this fiscal in sync with a rebounding economy.
On the manufacturing side, the Productivity Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme would be a booster for some segments. It will also increase indigenisation of components.
Manufacturers of consumer durables in the organised segment enjoy strong credit quality due to healthy balance sheets. But rising input costs are hurting their profitability and the depreciation of the rupee is another spoiler for some.
In this context, CRISIL is hosting a webinar on the consumer durables sector, to analyse sector trends and share the views of our experts on the following aspects:
Demand drivers for appliances, along with the revenue outlook over the medium term
Changing consumer preferences and their impact on the product mix
Decoding the PLI scheme's impact
Profitability trend and expectations going forward
The credit outlook of consumer durables companies
The session will be followed by a panel discussion by industry experts and a Q&A session.
