Establishment of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) sought to achieve a trifecta of objectives - the reduction of transaction costs, the optimization of resource accessibility, and the empowerment of farmers by strengthening their bargaining power in the agricultural landscape. FPOs possess the potential to alleviate significant challenges faced by smallholder farmers. They necessitate robust capacity-building assistance to transform into impactful organizations capable of sustaining and scaling up their operations.
CRISIL is organizing three-part series to discuss important issues and growth areas with respect to the functioning of FPOs and interaction with external stakeholders.
