CRISIL Ratings webinar on the downstream textiles sector: Slow and steady weaving

Summary

The downstream textile industry, which includes the readymade garments and home textiles segments, is expected to witness a mixed performance this fiscal.

Though revenue growth of the readymade garments sector is expected to soften due to moderate domestic demand, exports are set to recover after two fiscals of decline.

The home textiles industry is expected to maintain its sales momentum in the current fiscal due to resilient consumer spending in the key markets of the US and sustained export competitiveness of Indian home textile products, despite higher base and impending supply chain challenges.

The profitability of the readymade garments and home textile players is expected to remain on a par with last fiscal, buoyed by stable cotton prices and healthy capacity utilisation.

Supported by stable operating performance, the credit profiles of manufacturers in both the segments are expected to remain healthy this fiscal. With moderate capital expenditure requirements, the need for significant debt addition is mitigated, which will also support the credit profiles.

Given this backdrop, CRISIL Ratings is organising a webinar on the downstream textiles sector, titled 'Slow and steady weaving', where our experts will delve into:

  • Demand outlook for the readymade garments and home textile manufacturers
  • Competitiveness of India's downstream textile manufacturers in key export markets
  • Segmental profitability trends
  • Credit outlook
This will be followed by a panel discussion with industry experts and a Q&A session.
