The Covid-19 pandemic has thrown aviation traffic out of gear. Amid lockdowns and travel advisories, fiscal 2021 saw traffic volume decline to levels last witnessed over a decade ago. The second wave has marred recovery further.
That said, traffic is expected to rebound sharply this fiscal, driven by the ongoing vaccination drive, sound long-term fundamentals, and the recovery trajectory seen globally. Also, continued government focus is expected to step up privatisation and investments in the sector over the next five years.
