India's roads sector has performed well over the past two fiscals despite challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. Healthy project awards by the central government and measures taken to accelerate execution have supported the sector significantly.
However, rising competitive intensity, especially in the hybrid annuity model (HAM) mode, and increase in input costs are putting pressure on the profitability of road engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) companies.
But on the flip side, elevated Wholesale Price Index inflation is expected to translate into higher toll rates, thereby benefitting toll road operators. Consequently, toll road projects will continue to attract adequate investor interest.
To catch the pulse of the roads sector, CRISIL is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, where its experts will drive through the following:
Pace of project awards and trends in execution
Hybrid annuity model scorecard
Competitive intensity in the sector
Credit perspective and outlook on road EPC companies
Traffic trends and expectations
This will be followed by a panel discussion by industry experts and a Q&A session.
