LPG Parallel Marketers

Starting an LPG business?

You need to get it rated first.

According to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, no parallel marketer will commence business without obtaining a grading. These regulations were later extended to include auto LPG parallel marketers who need to obtain a minimum ‘low-risk’ grading certificate.

The grading certifies your capability, infrastructure, and business-readiness, including provision for adequate safety back-up for transportation, accident relief during transportation, and attending to emergency complaints of customers. CRISIL rates your business after evaluating the infrastructure network, readiness, and ability to deliver the goods and services in a thorough grading process.

  • Business for parallel marketers includes importing, storing, transporting, bottling, marketing, distribution and sale – or any activity relating to the LPG business
  • Activities for auto LPG parallel marketers includes import (including auto LPG import substitution), transport, marketing, distribution, and sale of automotive fuel
  • Based on our exhaustive evaluation of your business, we grade you on a scale of 1-4. While Grades 1 and 2 are valid for two years, Grades 3 and 4 are valid for one year
Scale Signifier Validity
Grade 1 Good 2 years
Grade 2 Satisfactory 2 years
Grade 3 Low risk 1 years
Grade 4 High risk 1 years
  • Grow your business by showcasing your capability, business-preparedness and safety to prospective customers and partners
  • Build credibility and trust in the market
  • Gain easier access to funding with verified gradings
