Objective
To help a regional US Bank demonstrate research prowess to clients and prospects by developing a series of thought leadership reports reflecting deep scientific understanding, access to primary research capabilities, and the ability to convey complex matter in a succinct manner.
CRISIL's Solution
For the first report in a new biotech series, the client identified a set of eye diseases and asked CRISIL to create a landscape of current and future therapies for each disease. The client also provided access to an expert network for deeper insights.
The CRISIL team coordinated with and analyzed the expert network to identify clinical specialists capable of providing insights on the current treatment landscape, the drug and device pipeline and therapy development. CRISIL conducted a series of expert interviews with these specialists to elicit information not normally be available through secondary research.
In parallel, the CRISIL team conducted web research and an extensive literature search to identify an exhaustive list of pipeline opportunities for the relevant diseases.
The team also did a separate deep dive into drug delivery challenges specific to the eye, and correlated these with emerging delivery mechanisms in the pipeline.
The team then integrated research takeaways to generate an informed view on available treatments and pipelines. This required developing a deep understanding of the various molecular pathways and genetic disruptions related to each diseases, and the various mechanisms targeted by each treatment option.
Based on these conclusions, the CRISIL team produced a report focusing on the feasibility of stem cell therapy and gene therapy for each of the diseases. The report discussed the current state of treatment, shortcomings, and pipelines for each of the diseases. Common themes across diseases were identified and separately highlighted.
The report presented the research, opinions and conclusions in compelling language and visually appealing presentation.
Client Impact
Report successfully conveyed to the bank’s clients and prospects a sense of analytical rigour, depth of research and an ability to understand and act on complex scientific concepts.
The final report required no significant revisions by the client, reflecting CRISIL's ability to systematically manage complex information and present high-level concepts in a manner that is compelling and easy-to-understand.
